Based in San Diego, California, K2 Insurance Services (“K2”) provides specialty insurance products through its insurance carrier and managing general agencies (“MGAs”). K2 is a holding company that owns Pennsylvania-based Aegis Security Insurance Company, an A.M. Best “A” insurer that is licensed in all 50 states. In addition, K2 utilizes the following MGAs to manage, underwrite, and distribute products on behalf of Aegis Security and other carrier partners: Aegis General Insurance Agency, Allied Public Risk, Midwestern Insurance Alliance, Mission Select Insurance Services, and Vikco Insurance Services.

K2 was formed in 2011 by Chairman and CEO Pat Kilkenny and President Bob Kimmel, in partnership with Endeavour Capital. Pat and Bob have over 60 years of combined industry experience. Pat formerly ran and owned Arrowhead General Insurance, an industry leading general agency with more than $1 billion in written premiums. Bob served as Executive Vice President and MGA Practice Leader at Guy Carpenter, an insurance intermediary and a division of Marsh & McLennan Companies. Endeavour and Pat initially met through involvement in higher education in the state of Oregon and, after a few years, decided to form K2 to acquire a platform in the specialty insurance market. Since formation, K2 has assembled a core group of specialty insurers and MGAs located across the country.

In 2019, Endeavour and Pat sold K2 to a financial sponsor with experience in insurance services but retained ownership of its specialty insurance carrier, Aegis Security Insurance Company.  Endeavour sold its remaining interest in Aegis in 2021.
